Coach Travis York spent five seasons on the Bulldog bench posting a 100-60 record and led the Dawgs to the State Tournament for the first time in school history in 2015-16. He also won three District Championships.

LOUISA, KY — Lawrence Co. Boys basketball will be looking for another Head Boys Coach after Travis York resigned early this week.

York spent five seasons on the Bulldog bench posting a 100-60 record and led the Dawgs to the State Tournament for the first time in school history in 2015-16. He also won three District Championships.

The Lawrence Co. Basketball job will be coveted by a bunch of coaches as the Bulldogs return a solid nucleus from a 22 win team that lost only one starter. Tyler Maynard, Cody Maynard, Chase Sartin and Alex Ratliff will return along with Baden Gillispie and Trenton Adkins.

Assistants Paul Preece, Wade Skaggs and Kenny Muncy will be just a few names mentioned for the vacated Head Coaching position.

York cited “spending more time watching his kids play, who are both active in sports and getting older” as his reason for resigning. He said he will still be around the game just not as a Head Coach. His is expected to remain as a teacher in the school system.
