MEAN EVIL PIKE COUNTY WOMAN #1: TERESA R. HOLBROOK, 48, OF PIKEVILLE, KENTUCKY.

A Pike County woman who was being arrested for outstanding warrants found herself in even more trouble when she allegedly punched the arresting police officer.

According to the arrest citation report, on Thursday night, January 11, 2024 Pikeville Police Department patrolman Austin Kranzman went to a home on Peach Orchard Drive to arrest Teresa R. Holbrook, 48, of Pikeville, KY.

Teresa Holbrook came to the door and cracked it open to keep two pit bull terriers from getting out. When  officer Kranzman told Teresa Holbrook she was under arrest, she reportedly said, “No, I’m not,” and tried to go back in the house and shut the door.

Officer Kranzman was able to grab Teresa Holbrook by her wrist, and was trying to take her into custody while also fighting to keep the pit bull terriers in the house. Officer Kranzman wrote in his arrest report that Teresa Holbrook attempted to kick the door open to release the two attack dogs.

When officer Kranzman finally got Teresa Holbrook out of the house, she allegedly punched officer Kranzman in the eye.

Teresa Holbrook was arrested on the following charges of:

  • ASSAULT 3RD DEGREE-POLICE OFFICER OR PROBATION OFFICER,
  • RESISTING ARREST,
  • TERRORISTIC THREATENING, 3RD DEGREE, along with the two outstanding Pike County Court bench warrants for FAILURE TO APPEAR, that Officer Austin Krazman was trying to serve on Teresa Holbrook.
Teresa Holbrook was taken to and was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center in Pikeville, where she is currently being held on a $5,000 full cash bond only. She had her initial preliminary court hearing set for Friday, January 12, at 10:30 A.M., in Pike County District Court with Judge Tommy Ray “T.J.” May.

PIKE COUNTY WOMAN ACCUSED OF SEVERELY BEATING PUPPY

EVIL MEAN PIKE COUNTY WOMAN #2: COURTNEY RENEE SMALLWOOD, 41, OF JENKINS, KENTUCKY.

A complaint about a Pike County, KY. woman causing a disturbance at a home at Dorton, KY., in Pike County, allowed police the opportunity to serve her with multiple warrants, including one from October 2023 alleging an act of extreme animal cruelty that had a tragic end.

Kentucky State Police were called to the home on the Right Fork of Three Mile Road in Dorton on early Friday morning, January 12. On the way, the troopers learned about the warrants against the woman, identified as Courtney Renee Smallwood, 41, of Jenkins, KY., and that she was the subject of an active emergency protective order filed against her by her own mother.

Courtney Smallwood was found inside a bedroom in her mother’s home.

The animal cruelty complaint alleges that Courtney Smallwood beat a puppy with a large stick. The beating caused the puppy’s eye to come out of its socket, broke a leg, and knocked out several teeth, in addition to other injuries. The puppy dog unfortunately had to be euthanized as a result of the severe injuries it had sustained.

Courtney Smallwood is also the subject of a fugitive warrant out of Scott County, Virginia.

Courtney Smallwood was arrested by KSP Post 9 trooper Braxton Whitmore, and was charged with:

  • VIOLATION OF A KENTUCKY EPO/DVO,
  • FAILURE TO APPEAR,
  • CRUELTY TO ANIMALS-2ND DEGREE,
  • FUGITIVE (WARRANT NOT REQUIRED).

Courtney Smallwood was transported to and was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center, where she is currently being held without bond, due to the fugitive from Virginia warrant. She had her initial preliminary court hearing set for Friday, January 12, at 10:30 A.M., in Pike County District Court with Judge Tommy Ray “T.J.” May on the EPO violation, Animal Cruelty, and Failure To Appear charges.

In addition, Courtney Smallwood had her initial preliminary court hearing set for Tuesday, February 6, at 10:30 A.M., in Pike County District Court with Judge Tommy Ray “T.J” May on the Fugitive warrant from Scott County, Virginia.
