1938 – 2016

Willis “Hap” Wray Shannon, 77 of Louisa passed away at home on Sunday, June 19, 2016.

He was born October 23, 1938 in Lawrence County to the late Riley J. and Gladys Childers-Shannon. Mr. Shannon was a member of the Louisa Freewill Baptist Church and he was a member of the Louisa Masonic Lodge. “Hap” was a Kentucky Colonel and was retired as an Operations Supervisor from the AEP Big Sandy Plant after nearly 30 years.

Besides his parents he was also preceded in death in 2007 by his wife Carol Brown-Shannon.

Left behind to cherish his memory is a loving family including two daughters Karen and Brian Coleman of Rush, Kentucky and Glenda and Tony Cole of Winchester, Kentucky; four grandchildren Christopher Dean Coleman, Shannon Elizabeth Coleman, Caleb Wray Cole and Alexandra Lang Cole; one brother Bill Don Shannon and one sister Laura Lou Shannon both of Lawrence County; one nephew James Shannon of Louisa as well as a host of extended family members and friends all of whom will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held at Young Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 1:00 pm with Bobby Workman and James Russell Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at the Shannon Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 6-9 pm at Young Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 7pm.
