William “Bill” Nelson Porter, 73, of Genoa, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley.

Bill was born January 13, 1949 in Louisa, KY to the late Nebert Nelson and Anita (Preston) Porter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives Vivian Block Porter, Judy King Porter, Mary A. Copley Porter, and Mary Catherine Smith Porter; daughter Elizabeth Ann Porter; and brother Robert Porter.

Bill was a Veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam. He retired from the railroad and was a logger. Bill loved the Lord and was very active in his church.

Survivors include his son Jeremiah Porter; grandson Ronnie Porter; sister Ernestine (Guy) Griffith; brother Jonathan Porter; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Elmer Mullins officiating.

Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home with burial following in the Workman Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to help offset funeral expenses.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Porter and his family.
