Sheriff Rick Thompson stated that an arrest was made after deputies investigated a Burglary in the Wayne area.
During the investigation deputies were able to locate the items reported stolen and then interviewed the alleged victim about discrepancies.
When the victim, Verna Vaughn, 40, of Wayne Co. was confronted with evidence gathered during the investigation, she confessed to staging the Burglary.
Ms. Vaughn turned herself into Magistrate Court and is charged with filing a false police report.
What was her motive for doing this? Turn the stolen items in on her insurance and get a check for it?
