PURSUED BY COPS OVER 90 MILES IN THREE STATES, WHILE DRIVING A STOLEN POLICE CRUISER. ENOUGH SAID: RODNEY SEARS, 36, OF MAN, WEST VIRGINIA.

A Logan County, West Virginia man faces numerous charges after Kentucky State Police reports he stole a police cruiser from the Huntington Police Department in Huntington, W.VA. and led law enforcement from several different agencies on a three state pursuit.

Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia state troopers say numerous police agencies were pursuing the suspect, identified as Rodney Sears, 36, of Man, West Virginia, in Logan County, for nearly 90 miles Tuesday morning, November 28 .

According to Huntington Police Chief Phil Watkins, the stolen Huntington Police Department cruiser was recovered after being taken from their police headquarters in the 600 block of 10th Street around 3 A.M. Tuesday.

The Kentucky State Police reported their troopers received a call around 3:45 A.M,. Tuesday from Ohio State Highway Patrol for assistance after crossing state lines.

KSP troopers deployed stop sticks, and the vehicle turned on to the AA Highway headed back toward Grayson.

The chase continued down the AA Highway into Grayson in Carter County, and turned west onto the interstate toward the Rowan/Bath County line.

KSP troopers report that ‘legal intervention’ was used to stop the vehicle along the interstate.

After he abandoned the cruiser, Rodney Sears was stopped by troopers using Tasers and placed under arrest.

Two police duty firearms loaded to fully functioning capacity were found inside the stolen cruiser, according to Rowan County court documents.

Rodney Sears was taken after his arrest to and lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center in Morehead, KY., and he is facing the following charges:

  • ATTEMTPED MURDER – POLICE OFFICER,
  • RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY (FIREARM),
  • FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, 1ST DEGREE (MOTOR VEHICLE),
  • FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, 1ST DEGREE (ON FOOT),
  • RESISTING ARREST
  • RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY $10,000 OR MORE,
  • CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, 1ST DEGREE.

Rodney Spears is on a $100,000 full cash bond only. His first court appearance is set for Wednesday, December 6, in Rowan County District Court.

These charges are for just what Rodney Sears did in Kentucky; as he also still will be facing numerous charges in West Virginia and Ohio, after his legal troubles are completely finished in Kentucky.

The Huntington Police Department said no injuries were reported in the entire wild stolen police cruiser and the ensuing long chase incident.
