Louisa, Ky — It’s been and up down year for Lawrence Co. Volleyball ( 11-20 ) but on Senior night they put it all together with an impressive four set victory over Fairview ( 21-12 ) who they hadn’t beaten since 2012 on Tuesday night at home.

Lawrence Co. 3 Fairview 1 ( Tuesday )

The VolleyDawgs avenged an early loss to the Lady Eagles and former Bulldog Coach Rick Lambert.

After dropping the first set 25-19 Lawrence Co. stormed back to take the next three sets 25-19, 25-23 and 25-20 and pick up the huge win on Senior night.

Lawrence Co. 3 Prestonsburg 0 ( Monday )

The VolleyDawgs went on the road and completed the regular season sweep of their District rival and wrapped up the #3 seed in the upcoming 58th District tournament.

Lawrence Co. won the first set 25-14 then the next two sets went down to the wire with the Lady Bulldogs winning both of those by the score 25-23.

The VolleyDawgs will travel to Raceland on Thursday to close out the regular season before opening up 58th District play vs #2 Betsy Layne at Prestonsburg Monday night.

#1 seed Floyd Central will play #4 seed Prestonsburg at 6:00 the same night.

The Championship game is slated for Tuesday night also at Prestonsburg.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Autumn Blevins

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… It was a great night celebrating our seniors and a key win. Everyone worked hard and contributed to securing this win. Lawrence County has not defeated Fairview since 2012, so this was a huge win for us against a highly competitive team/coach. I’m thrilled to take this momentum into Thursday night against Raceland and then head to Prestonsburg to play Betsy Layne Monday night at 7:30 in the district tournament.”

“… Our seniors (Lillian Kinser, Andrea Cochran, Makayla Sparks, & manager Kendal Sword) have laid the foundation for our future success. They have contributed to the changing culture of Lawrence County volleyball. I’m so proud!”
