VOLLEYDAWGS AND VOLLEYCARDS OPEN DISTRICT PLAY TONIGHT

Langley, Ky. — Lawrence Co. ( 7-20 ) will be the #4 seed and will play in the 58th District volleyball tournament for the first time as they will face the host #1 seed Floyd Central ( 28-7 ) in the first round on Monday night at 6:00.

2017 VolleyDawgs - Aryana Chapman, Lexie Workman, Shelbie Hughes, Kaylee Ison, Holly Rowe, Cassidy Coburn, Lillian Kinser, Olivia May, Harmannie Lemaster, Courtney Perry, Lexie Ratliff, Ellen Sparks, Maliah Perry, Makayla Sparks, Brooklyn White

The two teams met twice in the regular season with the Jaguars winning both meetings. In the first meeting in Louisa it was Floyd Central winning ( 25-21, 25-11, 25-20 ) in the second meeting at Floyd Central it was once again the Jaguars ( 25-12, 25-8, 25-13 ).

In the second game at 8:00 it will be #3 seed Prestonsburg ( 7-15 ) vs #2 seed Betsy Layne ( 20-8 ) the two teams met twice in the regular season with the Bobcats winning both matchups.

The two winners will play for the title on Wednesday at 6:00 with both teams advancing to the 15th Region Tournament.

Salyersville, Ky. — The Sheldon Clark Volleyball team is coached by Tiffany Hinkle and is 17-11 on the year heading into the 57th District Tournament that will begin tonight at Magoffin Co. This is the most games any SCHS team has won on the volleyball court.

The Cardinals will play Johnson Central ( 8-19 ) coached by former SC Volleyball head coach Kayla Moore Vanhoose. The game will begin at 7:45.

SCHS Volleyball 2017 -- Top: coach Tiffany Hinkle , Chloe Fields, Lakyn Porter, Lauren Horn, Anna Von Oettingen, Carlotta Peralta, Kristen Isaac, Kira Osborn, asst. coach Jordyn Harless  Middle: Alli Grayson, Alyssa McCoy, Shinae Benjamin, Jenna Grayson, Paige Maynard, Lila Spaulding, Chloe Hale  Bottom: Fallyne Weffenstete

The two teams split in the regular season with both teams winning 3-0 at home. SC won ( 25-17, 25-21, 25-21 ) and JC won ( 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 ) so tonight’s game should be a dandy.

In the other matchup it will be District favorite Paintsville ( 28-4 ) vs Magoffin Co. who come into the game winless.

The Championship game is set for 7:00 on Tuesday night.
