Vira L. Hayes, age 80, Republic, Missouri, passed away October 31, 2021 in The Maples Health and Rehab Center.

Vira was born in Charlotte, Arkansas to the late Clyde and Lottie (Shreve) Wright on December 12, 1940. She attended Cord High School in Charlotte, Arkansas and went on to work for Paintsville Truck Company and H & R Block in Paintsville, Kentucky. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening.

Vira married the love of her life Truman Hayes on May 23, 1960 and to this union one daughter was born, Lisa. Vira was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Lottie; spouse Truman Hayes; brother Sonny Wright; and sister Tina Ferrell.

Vira is survived by her daughter Lisa Cockrell and husband Gordon; granddaughter Courtney King and husband Jason; three great-grandchildren Izzy King, Lilith King, and Jason Truman King; sister Wanda Akers; sister -in- law Francis Bryant; and numerous nieces and nephews. Vira will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery with Brother Willie Hayes officiating.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Hayes and her family.
