Louisa, Ky. — On Monday March 6th United Rentals out of Huntington, W. Va. brought seven men along with various types of heavy equipment to Louisa for the day. The men spent the time at Stella Moore Ballpark as they spruced up the three Little League and T-Ball fields.
Lawrence Co. BOE chairman Heath Preston, the Huntington Branch manager for United used the time as safety training for his crew, while giving back to the youth of Lawrence Co.
5S Safety is the United Rentals foundation and they are bringing that culture to the world, Preston said. One of their main mottos is “You’re building the future — We’re here to help”.
Preston, who has been with United Rentals which is the biggest equipment rental company in the world for six months. This has been one of his main projects since he started.
Preston said he ‘wanted to give back to the kids’ and the community of Louisa by bringing the equipment and making the whole park safer and nicer for everyone to take pride in for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons.
Among the heavy equipment that United Rentals donated were a roller, man lift, sweeper, and track loader with a bush hog.
Preston, who has kids of his own twho play baseball, has served as President of the local League, and his crew painted buildings and safety poles, rolled the ball fields to make it safer for the kids, changed 10 light bulbs on the little league and minor league fields, swept the parking lot, picked up seven bags of trash around the whole park, bush hogged behind all three fields to make it safer for the kids and for the league and to cut down on losing baseballs and softballs during the season.
