ALLEGED CHILD SEX PORN ( SELF-MADE OF HIMSELF DOG SEX VIDEO): KENT SIMPKINS, 42, OF SALYERSVILLE, KENTUCKY; PLEADED NOT GUILTY TO HIS CHARGES IN MAGOFFIN COUNTY DISTRICT COURT ON MONDAY, MARCH 11.
Two Magoffin County men have found themselves separately on different ends and levels of the judicial system recently, involving their alleged involvement in charged cases of child sex exploitation pornography.
A Magoffin County man pleaded not guilty in court on Monday on charges related to child sexual abuse material.
On Monday, March 11, Kent Simpkins, 42, of Salyersville, KY., appeared in Magoffin County District Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the following charges of: three counts of Possession Matter Portraying a Minor Under the Age of 12 Years in a Sexual Performance; one count of *Distribution of Matter Portraying a Minor Under the Age of 12 Years; two counts of *Possessing Matter Portraying a Minor Over the Age of 12 Years but Under the Age of 18 Years in a Sexual Performance; and one count of *SEXUAL CRIMES AGAINST AN ANIMAL.
The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Electronic Crime Branch interviewed and arrested Kent Simpkins on February 13, on charges related to a child sexual abuse material investigation. More disturbing, state police troopers also found a video of Kent Simpkins in which he filmed himself having sex with his dog.
Kent Simpkins has been out of jail custody since the middle part of February, after posting his $5,025 cash bond at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, KY., in Johnson County. Kent Simpkins’ next pretrial hearing is set for Monday, March 25 at 9:00 A.M., in Magoffin County District Court.

MAGOFFIN COUNTY, KY. SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON AFTER PLEADING GUILTY ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES
GONE UNTIL THE END OF THE 2030s: DAVID K. JACKSON, 55, OF SALYERSVILLE, KENTUCKY; WAS SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON IN FEBRUARY AFTER HE PLEAD GUILTY TO 21 CHARGES OF POSSESSING/VIEWING AND DISTRIBUTION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY.
Meanwhile, a second Magoffin County man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on charges related to the possession and distribution of child pornography. In February 2024, David K. Jackson, 55, of Allen Drive, of Salyersville, KY., pleaded guilty in U.S. federal court in Pikeville, KY., via an agreement with the Office of the Assistant U.S. Attorney of Eastern Kentucky to 20 charges of possessing or viewing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor & one count of distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor (all Class D felonies).
According to the federal plea deal, on or about May 20, 2021, David Jackson downloaded a photo image of a prepubescent female (estimated age 7 to 11 years old) lying on a bed. The photo image depicts the child’s hands bound to her feet, with her legs spread open to expose her private areas. The child’s mouth was also covered in what appeared to be duct tape.
