Tolsia will return to action with their first home game of the season on Friday versus rival Tug Valley at Rebel Arena.

Tolsia basketball will honor alumnus Coty Jude with a jersey retirement ceremony during Friday’s home opener.

Jude graduated from Tolsia in 2017 where he was an all-state selection as a senior and still hold the record for most points in one game when he scored 54 against Huntington St. Joe.

Jude continued his athletic and academic career at UNC-Asheville. He played in 112 games and recorded a career high 24 points against Gardner-Webb. Jude finished his career with 230 made three pointers which is second all-time in school history.

Tolsia Assistant Coach Josh Muncy

COACH’S COMMENTS

“…… First of all, I want to say it’s an honor and privilege to be a part of this team and coaching staff at Tolsia.  Unfortunately, Coach Stacy was a little under the weather and I had to step up and coach the team in this game.  I know I’m new at this coaching thing and still have a lot to learn and I was admittedly a little nervous to step into that role.  Thankfully, we have a team, both JV and varsity, full of great young men and talented players that made things much easier for Me and Coach Switzer.”

“ We didn’t play a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination but we did a lot of things really well.  We have consistently shot the ball well from the perimeter and that continued against Van thankfully.  As a team we have to tighten things up on defense a little and get to our spots a second sooner on our defensive rotations and really focus on crashing the boards.”

“… This game was by far the best I’ve seen us play as a team.  I seen glimpses of what the coaching staff has always known we could be.  We moved the ball really well and made the extra passes and played for one another.  To me that shows the maturity that it’s going to take to get us where we want to be.  If we play basketball like we played tonight we are a very good team.  We had 4 of the 5 starters in double digits scoring the ball and a few with double digit rebounds.  The boys that came off the bench played great as well.  Over all it was a great night to be a Rebel and this group of young men made it easy on coach Switzer and myself.  But we do look forward to giving coach Stacy his position back against a tough Tug Valley team in our home opener on Friday.”
