Tolsia Head Coach Brian Stacy

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… I knew we would be in for a tough game as a season opener. I think that was like their 6th game maybe. I try to put us in state tournament type atmospheres like playing in a third field house where your shooting is totally different and return to play the very next day as you would if you make it to the big house in Charleston. …We started out really rough but we had a couple freshmen that’s never been in that environment. Evan Ball ended up with an arm injury so we were without our point guard for the biggest part of the game. So we tried a mixture of kids that’s never seen the big floor in a varsity game. We played Cole Blackburn, Josh Hofmeister and Cameron Perkins and they all gave us good minutes. We went in down 20 points at the half and come out cut it to within seven in the fourth quarter. Parker Watts had the hot hand and we kept feeding him the ball. Bray Mollette and Bryson Muncy took care of the boards in the second half. A Lot of people don’t know but we won the second half so I was pleased with the effort in the second half.”

“… We had a quick turnaround the next day as we traveled into Hurley VA., which is a new opponent for us so we went in blind I guess you could say. But if we shoot that way every game, I’ll go in blind into all of them lol. We had to set a team record for 3’s in that game and I think we hit 18 at one time the ref ask did we shoot 2 pointers over in WV. Josh Hofmeister drilled a couple deep 3’s and the rest is history. We went in at the half up big and Parker Watts had 7 threes at the half. I went in and asked the boys did they want to chase the record for Parker which is 10 three pointers in a game and they all was like heck yea we do. So you have a new three point record at Tolsia of 12 in a single game. Never seen team shoot like that.”
