Fort Gay, W.Va. —  Tolsia collected a huge section and rivalry win over Tug Valley 7-6 on Thursday evening.

The Rebels scored five runs in the bottom of first inning and then held off a furious Panther rally as David Dingess closed the game on a strikeout with the bases loaded to secure the victory.

Julian Vance was outstanding on the mound against Tug Valley Thursday.

Julian Vance went 5 and 1/3 innings to get the win and Dingess closed it out to get the save.

Vance had two hits, drove in three runs and scored once, Bray Mollette collected two hits including a double and drove in a run, Luke Williamson singled, drove in one and scored once, Dingess doubled and scored twice, Ben Clayton singled and scored twice, Cameron Perkins drove in one and scored once, JoJo Vanhoose walked twice.

Ben Clayton throws his hand up to show everyone he was ok after getting beaned in the helmet in the first inning. He eventually scored on a Luke Williamson single.

Zachary Hall homered and singled for the Panthers, Corey Wilson collected two hits, Conner Lackey, Tanner Kirk and Nick Alley all singled.

Kirk started and suffered the loss for Tug Valley.

David Dingess leads off third base as Head Coach LeeAnn Blankenship looks on.

The two teams finished a game that was delayed by rain in Naugatuck before the regularly scheduled game and the Panthers won 15-5.

Tolsia will return to action when they host Mingo Central at 11:00 Saturday morning.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… I’m so proud of our boys, they really battled  for this victory. They came out tonight believing that they could win this game and they came through big time. We have put a lot of time in the batting cages and have really focused on the little things. We have the skill level but have lacked confidence all year but we are gaining it little by little. Big big win for our program.”

“… Julian battled all night and just ran out of pitches in the end. We started to pull him early because we have 3 more games in four days but we got the lead and rode it out and worry about tomorrow tomorrow it paid off. David Dingess is a three sport athlete and is something special, he came in and was outstanding. Wherever you put him he his going to help you.”

“… We had to finish the game we started in Naugatuck before the regularly scheduled game and we eventually lost but I thought finishing that one really helped us. We put the bat on the ball to finish that one and then scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning of the next one to get us going. We changed the lineup up a little tonight and put some guys in different spots and that help us a lot. Really proud of our guys to get the big win against our biggest rival.”
