LAWRENCE COUNTY DEPUTY ARRESTS LOUISA MAN ON ACTIVE WARRANT; DISCOVERED WITH TRIO OF MAJOR DRUG POSSESSIONS THAT LEADS TO TRAFFICKING CHARGES

IN SEPARATE CASE, SAME LAWRENCE COUNTY DEPUTY BUSTS HUNTINGTON, WEST VIRGINIA WOMAN ON DRUG TRAFFICKING CHARGES AFTER TRAFFIC  STOP

KEVIN G. ZORNES, 38. OF LOUISA, WHILE BEING SERVED WARRANT, WAS DISCOVERED TO BE IN POSSESSION OF THREE DIFFERENT HARD-CORE STREET NARCOTICS.

A Louisa man who was being arrested on a warrant and was discovered to be in possession of more than the deputy expected. 

 

According to Lawrence County Sheriff Chuck Jackson, on September 20, around 1:30 A.M. Sunday morning, Lawrence County Deputy Everett Chase Kirk arrested Kevin G. Zornes, 38, of Louisa, for an active warrant.

 

While serving the warrant, Deputy Kirk located a gray substance believed to be a mixture of heroin and fentanyl/carfentanil, along with a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

 

Also located at the scene were multiple burnt pieces of aluminum foil, a syringe, various other drug paraphernalia, and cash.

 

Kevin Zorne was ultimately in total charged with:

 

• TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (< 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE), 

• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS, 

•  TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN), 

•  TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST OFFENSE (CARFENTANIL OR FENTANYL DERIVATIVES), 

• CONTEMPT OF COURT LIBEL/SLANDER RESISTANCE TO ORDER.

 

Kevin Zorne was transported & lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, where he is still being held on a $5,025 full cash bond only.

 

Assisting Deputy Kirk was officer Michael Housinger of the Louisa Police Department.

 

Sheriff Jackson stated that if anybody had a tip involving drug activity, that they please contact his sheriff office at 638-4368.

HUNTINGTON WOMAN ARRESTED ON DRUG TRAFFICKING, OTHER CHARGES AFTER TRAFFIC STOP IN LOUISA

MARIA ANN THOMPSON, 29, OF HUNTINGTON, WEST VIRGINIA NWAS ARRESTED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING AND DUI LATE MONDAY NIGHT IN LOUISA.
 

A woman from Huntington, West Virginia was arrested on drug trafficking, DUI, and other charges, after she pulled over for a motor vehicle violation stop and was found to be in possession of a pair of street narcotic drugs.

 

At around 11:30 P.M. Monday night, September 21, Lawrence County Sheriff Department Deputy Everett Chase Kirk initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle had made a turn without using a traffic signal, after which while following the vehicle, he also noticed the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

 

After making contact with the driver, who was identified as Maria Ann Thompson, 29, of Huntigton, West Virginia, deputy Kirk observed that Maria Thompson appeared to be intoxicated, while finding her driver license had been suspended..

 

Deputy Kirk had Maria Thompson exit the vehicle, and conducted a field sobriety test, which she did not pass, and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

 

Deputy Kirk, after getting permission from Maria Thompson to search her vehicle, found quantities of a brown substance believed to be heroin, and also a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Deputy Kirk also found items used to both inject and smoke, along with cash in the vehicle.

 

Maria Ann Thompson was arrested and was charged with: 

• FAILURE TO WEAR SEAT BELTS,

• FAILURE TO OR IMPROPER SIGNAL, 

• TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (< 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE), 

• TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN),

• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS,

  • OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER/INFLUENCE ALCOHOL/SUBSTANCE (189A.010(1E) – 3RD OFFENSE (AGGRAVATING CIRCUMSTANCES),
  • • OPERATING ON SUSPENDED OR REVOKED OPERATORS LICENSE.

 

Maria Ann Thompsom was transported & lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville,where she will have her arraignment Tuesday morning, during which Thompson will have her bail bond set.

    The sad part about Maria is that is someone’s daughter, could be someone’s mom, someone’s sister, etc. I’m sure her family would rather see her clean and living a better life than constantly being strung out on drugs!!!

      Your right we would and her children would.. That’s my baby sister.. But I would rather see her locked up then dead.. She isn’t a bad person she just needs real help..

    The first story looks to me like ‘law enforcement by accident’, and the picture is a joke. All those one dollar bills? I’m 100% pro law enforcement and anti drug, but that was a farce to look like something bigger than the small thing it actually was. Nonetheless a small amount of drugs were removed from the street, and that’s better than none.
