The Crisis to Career Chronicles: Andrea Cline’s Story

“Recovery is possible, and I’m living proof of it.”

Andrea Cline is a Martin County native who spent 18-years in addiction. Andrea was a broken version of herself and felt as though the road to recovery didn’t exist.

“While in addiction, I felt lonely and worthless. I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t stop using. I felt like something was wrong with me. I lost all hope and had to come to terms with what I was. I was prepared to die in addiction.”

After being arrested at least 20 times for drug-related charges, she sought out treatment in 2017.

“I know today that I have a disease. I know today I was living with a disease that controlled my brain. When it said, “jump,” I said, “how high?”. I was living with a disease that told me I didn’t have a disease. I had given up on God, and I had given up on myself.”

Today, Andrea has been in recovery for two years. She is currently enrolled in college studying Human Resources. Andrea is presently a Kentucky Peer Support Specialist at an Addiction Recovery Care Outpatient Treatment Center. Andrea says she’s blessed to be working in the recovery field. She encourages other addicts to seek help through treatment.

“Like any other disease, there is treatment available. Don’t give up and keep fighting.”

“For we are God’s Handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” -Ephesians 2:10
