TELEWORKS JOBS OFFERED TO 150 EASTERN KENTUCKIANS DURING KELLYCONNECT HIRING EVENT

Full-Time, Remote-Work Jobs Offered to 150 Eastern Kentuckians During Four-Day KellyConnect Hiring Event

Nearly 200 jobseekers attended a four-day hiring event hosted by Teleworks USA with global telework company KellyConnect. By the end of the event,150 job offers had been made, giving those jobseekers the opportunity to bring new wages not only into their homes, but into the entire Eastern Kentucky region through remote employment in the digital economy.

The event was hosted July 9-12 at four different Teleworks USA Hub locations – Annville, Hazard, Pikeville, and Louisa. KellyConnect officials from the company’s home office in Michigan traveled to each Hub to interview applicants on the spot.

The four-day event took place at four separate Teleworks Hubs across the region. Nearly 200 jobseekers attended the event, and 150 jobs were offered to those attendees.

“We had yet another amazing turnout, which is something that has been consistent with all of Teleworks USA’s previous KellyConnect hiring events in Eastern Kentucky,” said Michael Cornett, director of agency expansion and Teleworks USA for Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program (EKCEP), Inc. “With our most recent event’s new job-offer numbers, KellyConnect has been able to bring close to 500 remote-work, digital-economy employment opportunities to our citizens since May 2017—and that means new wages coming into our counties from a company well outside of the area and state.”

The KellyConnect remote technical support positions offer a starting salary of $12.25 per hour, which jumps to $13.25 per hour after a paid training period is complete—along with a $500 bonus, per company officials. Pending background checks by the company, applicants who were offered employment during the Teleworks USA hiring events would start paid training July 30 and would transition to full employment by Aug. 6.

Applicants had completed a free Teleworks USA Tech Prep Workshop prior to attending the hiring events, giving them a better understanding of macOS and iOS operating systems and troubleshooting. The goal of these workshops is to create the best-prepared teleworkers possible for the company’s officials to interview, Cornett said.

Melissa Turansky, director of staff management with KellyConnect, touted Teleworks USA’s workshops as a game changer for filling the more-skilled, technical support positions at her company.

“I think the workshop has helped tremendously with the applicants,” she said. “I would love to see the program continue to enhance the skill sets for our candidates.”

Cornett said that KellyConnect’s frequent return visits to the region, and ongoing partnership with Teleworks USA, are due to the quality of the region’s prepared and qualified teleworkforce, adding that remote-work companies like KellyConnect typically only interview candidates through video conferencing.

Further, Cornett said company officials have already begun discussing additional in-region hiring events with Teleworks USA that could occur later this year or early 2019.

Teleworks USA identifies and develops legitimate remote-work job opportunities with multiple national and global companies. Teleworks USA’s team of eight expert Teleworks Hub Managers also helps prepare people for the jobs by upskilling them in customer service and technical support workshops, helping them craft strong résumés and hone their interviewing skills, and assisting them in applying for available remote-work positions they can work within their homes or one of eight Teleworks Hubs in the region.

Since its inception in 2012, Teleworks USA has opened Teleworks Hubs in Hazard, Hyden, Annville, Beattyville, Booneville, Harlan, Louisa, and Pike County. Those Hubs have helped bring jobs to more than 1,400 Eastern Kentuckians, and those positions carry an estimated $30 million in economic impact in new annual wages to teleworkers across the Eastern Kentucky Coalfields.
