On Monday 12/3/18 the Lawrence County Sheriffs Office responded to a residence on Blaine Creek Road in reference to a Emergency Protection Order violation by Michael Maynard, 37 of Louisa. Upon arrival Deputy

Mason Keefer observed Maynard, fleeing from a garage at the residence. The Deputy pursued Maynard on foot down a hill toward Blaine Creek. Maynard continued fleeing after being ordered to stop by the Deputy. When Maynard reached the creek he jumped in and swam across with difficulty due to the cold water.
On Wednesday 12/5/18 Lawrence County Deputies were notified that Maynard had been bragging on Facebook about outrunning the deputy and about
swimming the creek. Maynard said that Deputies needed to “earn that check” and was taunting law enforcement.
The deputies then conducted an investigation into Maynard’s current location. Through that investigation the deputies learned that Maynard was at a neighbors residence. Acting on that information the deputies, along with the Kentucky State Police went to that residence and located Maynard hiding in the attic. He was taken into custody without incident.
He was served warrants for burglary and fleeing and evading. Deputy Mason Keefer is in charge of the investigation. Maynard was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
Being dumb ebouh to brag on social media about the crimes you commit should be a separate charge added on.
I am glad to see that Keefer did something to earn his pay. He didn’t do crap for my daughter even though she had a picture of the guy using her credit card at an ATM machine. I think he was afraid to approach the thief.
Actually Keefer always “earns his paycheck.” I’ll assume there is more to your story than what you tell sir. This is just another example of him going beyond the call of duty to keep Lawrence County residents safe!
They have to observe the crime in progress. Go and file a criminal complaint at Mike Hogan’s office
Mason is a great cop and one of the few who take his job seriously. I first met him when he was a city police officer and he was always fair with everyone and respectful. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office would benefit for more like him.
