Susan A. (Bissett) Thompson, 73, of Fort Gay, WV went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 8, 2021.

Sue was born September 8, 1947 to the late William “Bill” F.  and Anna May (Leary) Bissett.

Sue led a very rich life. After graduating high school, she went to New York City to become an actress. She performed on Broadway in the Circle in the Square Theatre. After leaving New York she was a legal secretary. She then earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Marshall University. Sue was a teacher all of her students loved. She taught at Fort Gay and Tolsia for over 20 years. Sue was Wayne County Teacher of the Year twice and received the Excellent Teacher Award, voted on by prior students, 10 times. Sue’s love was acting and she produced large plays in the school.

Survivors include her husband Charles “Chick” Thompson; siblings Cynthia (Eric) Price and Bill (Lara) Bissett; and numerous special friends.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Lawrence County Humane Society Animal Shelter.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Thompson and her family.
