LOUISA, KY. —  With a 3-1 Home victory over Belfry ( 4-5-1 ) on Thursday night Lawrence Co. ( 10-2-1 ) wrapped up the #1 seed in the upcoming 58th District Boys Soccer tournament.

Trailing 1-0 the SoccerDawgs would fight back and tie it up on a Tyler Maynard goal and assist from Luke Johnson.

Luke Cassell scored on a bomb to give the Dawgs the lead.

Lawrence Co. 3 Prestonsburg 3 (Tuesday)

In a battle of the top two Boys Soccer teams in the 15th Region it was fitting that the game ended in a 3-3 tie between Lawrence Co. and Prestonsburg Tuesday night at Stonecrest Sports Park.

Lawrence Co. Freshman Luke Johnson scored within the first 15 seconds and Prestonsburg ties it up just a couple minutes later and the game was close the rest of the way.

Tyler Maynard scored to put the Dawgs ahead 2-1 at Halftime after a ton of scoring opportunities from both sides.

It was about the same in the second half. Prestonsburg jumped back ahead off two corner kick goals for a 3-2 lead.

The Dawgs tied it back up off a Will Dillow assist to Tyler Maynard with less than 10 minutes left in a highly contested ballgame.

Lawrence Co. will return to action next Thursday at Ashland.

Bulldog Head Coach Scott Johnson

COACH’S COMMENTS

“…. A tale of two halves. Had a lot of opportunities in the first half but couldn’t connect with the back of the net. The boys came out and let them sneak a goal in on us after some defensive miscues. But we finished strong in a very physical well played match by both teams.”

“… Prestonsburg record in the region —  undefeated. They are the team to beat and the favorite to win the 15th. We played right with them.”
