LOUISA, KY. —  It was a tough night for Lawrence Co. ( 19-2 ) as the SoccerDawgs lost for the first time all year against a team from Kentucky as Russell ( 14-4 ) won 2-0 in the first round of the State Soccer tournament Monday at the LCHS Soccer Complex.

Lawrence Co. loses 9 Seniors in Zayla Granillo, Kelly Davis, Kylie Maynard, Lydia Workman, Jordan Stepp, Emily Webb, Sheree Hay, Katelyn Pauley and Adrianna Burchett.

They will return a pretty good nucleus for the 2019 season in Goalie Ally Moore, Hayleah Fletcher, Sarah Lycans, Ellie Webb, Aubrey West, Jasmine Justice and Alyssa Moore.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Heath Webb

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… We didn’t get the storybook ending we wanted but finishing out the year 19-2 with one of the best records in school history is pretty amazing. The way these girls came together and played as a team was unbelievable. We set a very high standard at the beginning and took it one game at a time never looking ahead just focused on the game in front of us.

“…We have 9 graduating seniors most of which have been with us since youth league. It will be tough to see them go but we have players coming up ready and willing to keep Lawrence Co Soccer on the winning path.”
