Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence Co. football was well represented on the Class 3A Region IV District 8 All-District team recently announced.

Belfry Head Coach Philip Haywood was named Coach of the Year after leading the Pirates to a 4-0 record in District play.

Belfry Senior RB/QB Caden Woolum was named the District Player of the Year which was voted on by the coaches.

Lawrence Co. had nine players make the first team All-District after going 3-1 and losing a nail biter at Belfry 14-6.

Senior Abner Collinsworth, Senior Talan Pollack, Freshman Ty Brooks, Senior Dalton Runyons, Senior Cody Crum, Senior Will McDavid, Blake Prater, Junior Colin Howard, Senior Luis Chicko

Lawrence Co. had seven players named Honorable-Mention All-District and all of them are underclassman but one and four of them are Freshman.

Freshman Cavin Williams, Freshman Kaden Johnson, Freshman Carlo Chicko, Freshman Ethan Preece, Junior Peyton Lowe, Junior Eli Fletcher, Senior Jake Derifield

The Bulldogs went 8-4 this past season but return a bunch of talent for 2024 and look to be right in the hunt for a District and Region Title.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Alan Short

“… Very proud and grateful for fellow district coaches to choose so many of our players for the All-District Team. Each player who was selected for the team was deserving. We have been blessed with some very talented players in our program and it is humbling for other coaches to take notice.”

“… We didn’t reach our final goals this year, but we still had a heck of a year. We will miss each of our seniors that we lose to graduation, but the impact and influence that this senior class has had, will remain in our program for years to come.”
