Our new community news reporter Rhonda Crockett posed with an old pal from the 60’s in front of the ‘Hillbilly Habachi’ booth during Septemberfest this year…

LOUISA, Ky. — By all accounts the 2018 Septemberfest was a big success despite the threat of showers both days. The parade was one of the biggest we’ve seen or heard of in Louisa and the entertainment was great, too.

Louisa Mayor Harold Slone, who is also the chairman of the Septemberfest committee, said this year’s version of the popular annual event surpassed all expectations.

“As mayor I’m so proud of our town. This weekend is like our homecoming. We get to see people we don’t see all year. I talked to people from counties all around us and as far away as Zanesville, Oh to Charlotte, NC and all in between. Great things are happening in our town,” Slone said.

“As Chairman I think Septemberfest 2018 is one for the records. The committee who spend countless hours throughout the year planning accomplished what they worked for and more, a successful event that creates those special memories for our family and friends. We can’t say Thank You enough for all the sponsors and work that goes into the festival to make it a success.”

LPD chief Greg Fugitt spent a fortune trying to dunk his boss, mayor Harold Slone in the dunking booth Saturday at Septemberfest. The dunking booth was sponsored by RISEabove and Eastern Kentucky People Advocating Recovery (EKPAR).

Over 120 members from the Addiction Recovery Care Louisa Center were on hand for the parade where they received an outpouring of love from the large crowd at the Septemberfest Parade Saturday. The photo is of part of the group after the parade.

The newest member of Louisa DAR Deanna Muncy, left, posed with Regent Sabrina May for a pic in their Colonial garbs which helped DAR win first place float in this year’s Septemberfest. The group won $300 their reward for a lot of hard work. See slideshow below for parade pics!
