Nolan signs up for city council election

The filing deadline is approaching for the November 8th 2016 Election.

All six Louisa City Council seats are up for election.

Also three School Board Districts are open including  Dist. #2 Springhill, Adams, Brushy, Point, Stella Moore, Dist. #4 West Louisa, East Louisa, Meadowbrook and Dist. #5 Buchanan, Fallsburg, Deephole. Current BOE members Jim See, Heath Preston and Barbara Robinson are all up for re-election but none of them have signed up to run so far.

The City of Blaine will appear on the Ballot also although it has been dormant for nearly eight years.

The Filing deadline is August 9th 2016 at 4:00.

John Nolan was the first to sign up to run for Louisa City Council after missing the deadline two years ago.John Nolan filed on June 30th for Louisa City Council.

He was appointed to the council briefly in 2014 by then mayor Teddy Preston, but did not get his registration papers in on time for the next election. He ran a write-in candidacy which garmered more than 100 votes but was defeated.

Mayor Harold Slone does not have to run this time because the mayor has a four year term while council members are elected for two year terms.

Both City Council and BOE are non-partisan elections.
