Extended Closure scheduled for KY 581 in Lawrence County For Culvert Replacement

Closure begins Monday, July 10, through Thursday, July 13

LAWRENCE COUNTY (July 5, 2023) – The Kentucky Department of Transportation advises motorists of an extended closure along KY 581 in Lawrence County for culvert replacement. The worksite begins at mile-point 5.0 near the intersection of Ky 645 (0.2 miles South of KY 645)

Crews will begin the project on Monday, July 10, starting at 8 a.m. A section of the road must be removed for the new culvert to be installed. Crews will cut across KY 581 and work backfilling and paving until repairs are complete sometime Thursday, July 13. Once everything settles and the pavement dries, the road will re-open to traffic that evening.

Motorists will need to use an alternate route during this time and pay close attention to signage in the area.

KYTC and contractor JigSaw Inc., will perform the work. Schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions
