ROTARY INTERNATIONAL AWARD WINNER IS CHUCK PRICE

On Thursday July 14 The Louisa Rotary Club had their regular scheduled meeting from 12-1PM at First Baptist Church in Louisa, Kentucky. Past President Patton R Hart (Filling in for Rotary President Harold Slone) welcomed Rotary Members and guests. After the Prayer, The Four-Way Test, and Rotary Song by Rotary Member Dan Smith.

Hart asked if there was anyone celebrating Birthdays or Anniversaries. Rotary Member Chris Jobe said, “Rotary Member Sherry Compton is celebrating her birthday but today she is working so HAPPY BIRTHDAY to SHERRY COMPTON!”

Hart then awarded the ROTARY FOUNDATION OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL AWARD to Chuck Price, who is hereby named a PAUL HARRIS FELLOW in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.

Hart then announced the Guest Speaker Denver Chaffin Jr. to speak. Chaffin  volunteers and talked about the Lawrence County Search & Rescue. (LCSAR) Lawrence County KY Search and Rescue is an all volunteer agency dedicated to helping people and saving lives. It is located inside of Louisa Ky.

The Search and the Rescue Organization is ready to respond to all emergencies. SAR (Search And Rescue) responds to a variety of calls within Lawrence County. Calls include Lost Person, Swift Water Rescue and Rope Rescue. LCSAR members are on-call 24/7/365 to respond to emergencies.

The members are a group of dedicated professionals that spend countless hours to help others.

Chaffin said “The LCSAR meets on the 2nd Tuesday and last Thursday of each month. We are looking for volunteers for Administrative and other jobs. Also Search and Rescue will be Incorporated next year,” Chaffin said.  “The Search and Rescue agency supports the Lawrence County Tourism Commission, Kayak Races on the river and is a Bass Club Tournament sponsor. Chaffin said they stay in close touch with Floyd County, Kentucky Search and Rescue and support the Floyd County Rescue squad as well.”

Hart then asked if anyone had a comment for the good of Rotary. Rotary Secretary Ellen Taylor has a form for Rotary Members to sign up for the Lawrence County Fair and Rotary Auction Cards which are due next Thursday at Rotary Club Meeting.

Pat Hart adjourned the Louisa Rotary Club.

The next Louisa Rotary Club Weekly Scheduled Meeting will be on Thursday July 21, 2022.
