Robert Edward Smith, 67, of Fort Gay, WV passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Smith was born January 6, 1951 in Wayne, West Virginia to the late Leonard and Cora Smith Akers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and David Smith, a sister-in-law, Norma Smith, and mother-in-law, Minnie Heaberlin Robertson.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Heaberlin Smith of Fort Gay, WV; one son, Robert Tyler (Krista) Smith of Bardstown KY; two daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Whitt and Samantha (Jonathan) Stapleton, all of Fort Gay, WV; four grandchildren – Minnie Taylor, Elijah Taylor Joseph Smith, & Isaac Smith, a special sister-in-law, Bonnie Smith, a special family friend, Hazel Powell, and several nieces and nephews.

He was an Army-RA veteran having served in Vietnam, a logger, and of Baptist faith. The family would like to thank Hospice for their excellent care.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Grayson, KY with Bro. Tyler Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast.

Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, November 28 after 11:00 AM at Wilson Funeral Home.

All care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
