REBELS ROUT ROSE HILL TO OPEN THE SEASON

ASHLAND, KY. —  Three different Rebels ( 1-0 ) hit three pointers on three straight positions to open the game and never looked back in a 78-34 opening night road victory over Rose Hill ( 0-4 ) on Tuesday night at Charles E. Stewart Gymnasium.

Sophomore Tyler Johnson scored 19 points including 5 three pointers and Freshman Jesse Muncy making his varsity debut scored 19 and hit 4 three pointers to lead the onslaught.

Sophomores Rob Cantrell and Austin Salmons hit double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively, Senior Braxton Williams scored 5 points, Junior Zane Sturgill and Sophomore Gavin Meadows scored 4 apiece, Senior Jacob Mollette who battled foul

trouble hit a three pointer for hit only points, Sophomore Zack Ball chipped in with 2 points.

Tolsia used a 25-9 first quarter behind 8 from Muncy and 6 from Johnson.

The Rebels lead 43-19 at halftime behind 9 three pointers in the first half.

Tolsia outscored the Royals 24-6 in the third quarter to start the running clock.

THS finished with 11 three pointers and went 7-10 from the foul line.

Rose Hill was led by Junior Kenny Wilburn with 16 points. The Royals hit 1 three pointers and went 9-10 from the charity stripe.

Rose Hill 9 10 6 7 = 32

Tolsia will host Carter Christian on Tuesday December 11th at 7:30 and then host the #RISEabove Rebel Shootout at Rebel arena on Thursday the 13th vs Lawrence Co. Junior Varsity will be at 4:30 and Varsity at 8:00.

Rose Hill will host Ashland tonight.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… No we really challenged our guys defensively because we thought we could score but we had to keep up our energy on the defensive side. We are a small team that has to crash the boards before we can get out in transition.”

“… Our philosophy is to win each quarter and we will win the ballgame. We preach that every game. We want to apply pressure and make them start their offense farther out. I thought we executed our game plan well.”
