FORT GAY, W. VA. Tolsia ( 6-2 ) equaled their win total from last season with a 65-61 sectional victory over Buffalo ( 4-4 ) Friday night at Rebel Arena.

With the win, the Rebels improve to 3-0 in section play this season.

Jacob Mollette drilling one of his four three pointers against Buffalo.

In a fast paced first quarter six different Rebels scored and three hit at least one three pointer as Tolsia led 17-16.

In the second quarter Tolsia blitzed the Bison with 3 more three pointers and out scored Buffalo 20-7 to lead 37-23 at the halftime break.

In the second half Jacob Mollette continued his hot shooting by nailing 2 three pointers on the first two Rebel possessions to prompt a Buffalo timeout. The Bison responded by out scoring Tolsia 20-14 in the third period.

In the fourth Tolsia was careless with the ball and shot selection and Buffalo pulled within three points before a key Mollette steal and quick time out to preserve the lead. The Rebels hit 7-10 free throws in the final period to close out the victory.

Tolsia will not return to action until Thursday January 17th at Grace Christian and Friday January 18th at Rebel Arena in another Section game vs Sherman.

Tolsia Head Coach Todd Maynard

“ Win the quarter win the game has been our motto and we did that for the most part. We led by 14 at half and stretched it out in the third quarter but like always let them right back in it. We have to continue to put pressure on our opponents. Just glad we didn’t play 5 quarters tonight because we probably would have lost.”

“ Buffalo is a good team and well coached. Adam Scott does a great job with them. They have a real to do some damage in our section.”

“ I was proud of our kids and the way they battled for most of the game. We have some stuff to clean up in the next couple weeks before we get into the meat of our schedule.”
