Fort Gay, W. Va. — After winning two games in 2017 and five last season the Tolsia Rebel football program is gunning for more in 2019 and they think the pieces are in place for a playoff run.
Tolsia will open the season with three straight road games which could be a make or break portion of the schedule and that begins tonight in Proctorville Ohio against a Fairland team that shutout the Rebels in last seasons opening game.
The rebels will have to replace West Virginia State Signee Brent Setser who anchored the offensive line and running backs Devon Crum and Peyton Watts who also graduated.
Tolsia looks to open up the offense this year and could have the most athletic team in years and will run a spread offense and throw the football around more.
Junior Tanner Copley and Sophomore Jesse Muncy will take snaps at the QB position and will have a stable of running backs and receivers to get the ball to in Juniors Gavin Meadows, Zack Ball, along with Brothers John and Josh Wilson, Senior Austin Gauze is also a threat to score from anywhere on the field.
Senior lineman Stone Sartin who is garnering some college looks will be a leader up front along with versatile Jordan Beckelheimer and Sophomore Braden Herald.
On defense the Wilson twins, Sartin, Copley, Meadows along with Juniors TJ Jackson and Devin Stull will lead a defense that should be much improved this year and fly to the football.
The Rebels played Wyoming East at Mingo Central and Van in the Preseason and played pretty decent in both.
Against Van, WR Zack Ball caught a long touchdown pass from Jesse Muncy and Gavin Meadows caught one from Tanner Copley, Muncy also scrambled for a 20 yard touchdown run. On defense Meadows had 2 INT’s and John Wilson recovered a fumble.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Really excited to get the season started. I think we improved from the first scrimmage to the second and now it’s go time. This is the most athletic team we have had in years.”
“… Offensively Tanner Copley and Jesse Muncy can both lead us and both are versatile enough to play other positions if we need them to. Zack Ball and Gavin Meadows are threats on the outside and the Wilson Brothers among with Austin Gauze and Devin Stull can both contribute. Stone Sartin will lead us up front and we have also a have couple of other kids that have a chance to be good.”
“… Defense has a chance to be better but is a work in progress right now. Fairland will be a real challenge for us right off the bat they put one on us last year at home so it should be real interesting on the road this year.”
“… Our kids have worked hard and hopefully they are up to the task at hand.”
