Fort Gay, W. Va. — After winning 15 games last season the Tolsia Baseball program is aiming for a Sectional Championship this season which would be the first in school history.
2018 Tolsia Seniors
The 2018 version of the Rebels return all but one starter and a wealth of experience.
This season Tolsia will be under the direction of first year Head Coach Jeff Wallace who has been an assistant for years and most recently with this Rebel program.
Tolsia will have six seniors this year and five of those bring a ton of experience to the diamond.
Seniors Kyler Speer, Jared Switzer, Ray Perkins, Trey Smith along with Juniors Eric Williams and Austin Bailey will lead the Rebels in 2018.
Juniors Ross Lycans and Caleb Meredith have been pleasant surprises so far.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… As an assistant I just got to coach. As the head coach you fix the field, deal with boosters, parents, administrators. So it’s a lot different.”
“… We have to stick with what works. We can’t get one or two guys on base then hit one out. We will continue to get better at what has made us successful.”
“… Right now I wouldn’t say we have strengths but we are improving in some areas faster than others. This time of the year pitching is always ahead of hitting and that held true in our first scrimmage as we didn’t allow an earned run.”
“… The kids we are starting have actually been starters for 2-3 years. We ended up going young two years ago and hopefully it will pay off. Our underclassmen didn’t come out in force like we had hoped with 3 sophomores and 3 freshman, we are hoping to get some 8th graders to come out as freshmen next year.”
“ We open up with a top 10 school in AA with Scott at their place, then we turn around on Monday and make the trip to Grayson to play East Carter. Then at the end of the month we go to Williamstown then to Oak Hill another AA for a double header the next day. We could lose 6 games this month and still be solid as we play out of our class most of the time.
The Rebels will play a challenging schedule once again which should get them ready for postseason.
