AMERICAN LEGION STATE TOURNEY CONTINUES TONIGHT AT RANDY KEETON FIELD

LOUISA, KY — Playing close to home for Ashland Post 76 wasn’t meant to be for the Sixers as they bowed out of the 2018 Kentucky American Legion State tournament after back to back losses Tuesday night and Wednesday morning at Randy Keeton field.

LC'S CJ Fairchild, Jackson Feltner, Tyler Maynard, AND Austin Roe all played well this summer for Ashland Post 76

Oldham Post 39 Aces 7 Ashland Post 76 Sixers 4

On Tuesday night it was Lawrence Co. junior to be CJ Fairchild getting the start on the mound for the Sixers but it didn’t go as planned as Post 39 Aces scored 4 times in the first two innings and then held on to advance in the winners bracket.

Tyler Maynard went 2-4 with an RBI Double and a run scored, Jackson Feltner had a single.

Shelbyville Post 37 4 Ashland Post 76 Sixers 1

On Wednesday morning in an elimination game Post 76 didn’t get much going offensively and were eliminated from the state tournament and ended the year with a 23-11 record.

Austin Roe went 2-3 at the plate, CJ Fairchild and Tyler Maynard both went 1-3 with a single each.

In other games so far in the tournament being held at Lawrence Co. high school:

*  Lyon Co. Post 68 Aces is 2-0 with wins over Shelbyville Post 37 and Owensboro Post 9 Bombers.

*  Oldham Post 68 Aces is 1-0 after beating Ashland Post 76 Sixers.

*  Owensboro Post 9 Bombers is 1-1 after eliminating Shelbyville Post 37 late Wednesday night.

The tournament will continue Thursday night at 5:00 with the winners bracket championship between Oldham and Lyon Co.

Owensboro will play the loser in an elimination game at 8:00 Thursday night.

Championship game is slated for 11:00 Friday morning.
