Phyllis Carol West

1937 — 2016

Phyllis Carol West, aged 79, entered peacefully into her heavenly home on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Community Hospice Care Center, after having a hemorrhagic stroke on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Phyllis was born February 1, 1937, in Blaine, Kentucky, a daughter of Evelyn Moore Cordle of Louisa, KY and the late Winfred B. Cordle.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Wanda Lee Hay (Ernest) of Canal Winchester, Ohio and her beloved brother, Bobby E. Cordle (Dianne C. Boggs) of Louisa, Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband and friend, Gene West of 45 years; four daughters; Anita Hay Caudill (Daniel), Dretha Hay Bienert (Frank), Donna Jean West, and Kimberly Faye West Muncy (David) all of Louisa, KY; three sisters; Lola Mollette (Earl), of Blaine, KY; Geneva Isaac (Bobby), and Virginia Way both of Louisa, KY; three brothers; James Allen Cordle (Nancy), of Blaine, KY, Lawrence Cordle (Debbie), of Louisa, KY, and Millard Cordle (Trudy), of Grayson, KY. She has seven grandchildren: Marc Edward Hay (Sacha), David Ray Hay, William Brian Hay, Michelle Dawn Hay, Brittany Carol Adams (Zach), Bethany Faye Muncy, and Reid David Gene Muncy. She also has 10 great-grandchildren: Faith Eileen Hay, Riley Edward Wayne Hay, Myra Carnes, Macy Jean Hay, Franki Michelle Bernotas, Carson Brian Marcus Hay, Gemma Faith Bernotas, Alexis Rose Hay, Elliana Grace Adams, and Weston Michael Adams, soon to arrive.

Phyllis was a hard working lady all of her life and took great pride in everything she did. Phyllis loved her four daughters, her seven grandchildren, and her 10 great–grandchildren immensely. She was an excellent caregiver to her friends and family. Phyllis was an amazing cook, seamstress, and a master hand quilter. She loved to shop for clothes, yard sales, and appreciated anything handmade. She loved gardening and canning, and listening to the gospel and country music of Elvis Presley. Phyllis enjoyed getting her hair fixed every Thursday at Barb’s Beauty Haven and the many friendships she made along the way. She loved pictures and above all she dearly loved the people in them. She was the matriarch of the family and will be truly missed by her family and friends.

She was a retired custodian at People’s Security Bank.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 5 at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Stepp, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Louisa, KY.

Friends may visit the family Monday, July 4, from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home.

Care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Louisa Church of God to further the cause of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
