Grant of $5,000 will extend efforts to save more lives in Lawrence County, Kentucky
LOUISA, KY (January 1, 2017) – Lawrence County Humane Society (LCHS), today announced it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support it’s Low Income Cat Spay/Neuter Assistance Program and the Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) Program throughout the county.
Lawrence County Humane Society is a nonprofit organization that works to reduce the over breeding of dogs and cats through public education programs and spay/neuter assistance programs. Founded in 1990, the LCHS has provided refuge for thousands of dogs and cats, ensuring each animal has received proper medical care and housing until an adoptive forever home can be found for each one. In addition, they have assisted countless numbers of families with assistance to spay and neuter their pets through grant programs like this one provided by the Petco Foundation.
The Petco Foundation investment will help families on fixed incomes get their pets spayed/neutered. By altering pets throughout the county, the number of pets being able to remain in their homes will increase significantly while the number of unwanted litters born each year will significantly decrease.

By doing so, we are helping these families keep their pets while also reducing the number of unwanted litters each year, ” said Beverly Pack, Volunteer and Program Coordinator.
