 Paul Fred Moore

1931 – 2016

Paul Fred Moore, age 85, of Louisa, passed away on May 14, 2016, at peace and surrounded by those who loved him in the home he built with his own two hands on the same site as the house where he was born in 1931, the son of Eli and Nancy O’Daniel Moore of Newcomb Branch in Lawrence County.

He was  veteran of both the U.S. Army and Navy, and a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Apperson Lodge for over 50 years. He worked for the Bechtel Power Corporation for 28 years and was Project Civil Superintendent at the Limerick Nuclear Generating Station Project at the time of his retirement in 1989.

Paul is remembered by those who knew him as a quiet man with a big heart, who was always ready to help others. He delighted in telling tales of his life and family, and like his father before him, could entertain family and friends for hours on end. He was a carpenter, a mechanic and man of the soil, a manager and leader of men, and a master of problem solving and getting the job done.

Paul is survived by Laura Jane (Jones) Moore, his wife of 62 years; son Eric J. Moore of the home; daughter Paula Ilene Martin and husband Greg of Lakeside Park, Kentucky; and grandson Ethan Moore Martin of Clearwater, Florida. In addition to his parents Eli and Nancy Moore, Paul was preceded in death by three brothers, Alonzo Moore, Dan Moore, and Ralph Moore and three sisters, Phyllis Carter, Elizabeth Chairatana and Reba Mayo.

Pallbearers are Fred Opel, Larry Larson, Pat Mead, Mitchell Mead, James Jones and Ethan Martin.

Visitation will be at Young Funeral Home on Tuesdy, May 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m..

Funeral services will be at Young Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 18 at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial in Harmon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Harmon Cemetery Maintenance Fund, c/o Thomas E. Tackett, 365 Broadleaf Road, Louisa, KY 41230.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.youngfuneralhomeinc.com
