Dear Lawrence County Family,

On December 18, 2020, Governor Andy Beshear provided an executive order that permitted school systems to operate in a “more aggressive hybrid” setting when its county has an incidence rate higher than 25, or in the “RED” status.  On January 4, 2021, Kentucky’s state incidence map reflected our highest number (144.6), so our in-person reopening was delayed.  Fortunately, the rate has steadily decreased since that date, but our county remains in the “RED” status.  With this in mind, we will begin our hybrid learning model on Monday, January 25, 2021.  This means that students who have chosen Option 1:  ALL IN @ School will have the opportunity to attend classes in-person, at school.  Here is the attendance breakdown:

  • Students whose last name begins with the letter “A” and alphabetically through the last name “LaFlesh” will attend school on Mondays and Tuesdays, unless your school’s administration has given you a different assignment.
  • ALL students will remain at home, in a virtual/NTI setting on Wednesdays.
  • Students whose last name is “Lambert” and goes alphabetically to the last names that begin with the letter “Z” will attend on Thursdays and Fridays, unless your school’s administration has given you a different assignment.
  • Students who selected Option 2: ALL IN @ Home and Option 3: ALL IN @ LC Virtual will remain at home.

Also, the food delivery system will change while we are in a hybrid setting.

Starting Monday, January 25th, bus drivers will deliver food (enough for two days) on Monday and then deliver food (enough for three days) on Wednesday for those students who are at home.  Food delivery will not occur on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday.

Next, we hope to transition to a full five-day schedule for those who want to be in-person, eventually.  For now, everyone should plan to stay on this Hybrid AA/BB model for at least four weeks.  For transparency, the need to have an NTI/virtual setting could arise at any time due to weather conditions, illness, etc., but we will get that information to you as quickly as possible.

Finally, we look forward to seeing students in our classrooms, in our buses, and in our cafeterias on Monday, January 25th.  We hope the students are excited also!  As always, thank you for your support, for your understanding, and for your being…

All In,

Robbie L. Fletcher, EdD
