MICHIGAN MAN, ALONG WITH WEST VIRGINIA MAN, ARRESTED IN MARTIN CO. AFTER THE PAIR ARE BUSTED FOR HEROIN & METH OPERATION

DRUG DEALING TAG TEAM FROM OUT OF STATE GET NABBED IN MARTIN COUNTY, KY.: KYLE DESHAWN-DARIUS TAYLOR (picture top), 29, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN; & JASON T. PENNINGTON (below pic), 45, OF RALEIGH, COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA; ARE ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES INVOLVING METH & HEROIN. (seized drug contraband in two pictures right).
Two men, one from West Virginia, who also has a local address, along with a Michigan man were arrested earlier this week following a drug investigation in Martin County, Kentucky.
According to details in a press release by Martin County Sheriff John H. Kirk, on December 7, 2021, The Martin County Sheriff Department received a complaint of possible drug activity at 31 Ed Moore Lane, in Debord, KY., involving persons selling meth from the home.
Martin County deputies Lauren O’Bryan and William Tyler Lafferty, who were assisted by Kentucky State Police Post 9-Pikeville,Ky. trooper Ryan Hale; went to the residence and were given consent to search by the homeowner. Once they got inside, and while conducting an investigation, they found the first suspect in the bathroom, identified as Kyle Deshawn-Darius Taylor, 29, of Detroit, Michigan.
The officers then found evidence of meth in the bathroom, as well as two bags of meth in Kyle Taylor’s jacket pocket and later on in the search of the home, another bag of meth hidden in the freezer. In all, the deputies recovered approximately 51 grams of methamphetamine from Kyle Taylor and the home.
Deputy Lafferty arrested Kyle Deshawn-Darius Taylor and charged him with:
- TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (> OR = 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE), and
- TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE.
Also arrested at the scene by deputy Lauren O’Bryan was Jason T. Pennington, 45, from Raleigh County, West Virginia, but he also had a Martin County address, which was listed in Inez.
The officers spotted scales next to Jason Pennington, and they then found bags of heroin behind a nearby television, totaling approximately 12 grams. Jason Pennington allegedly claimed ownership of the heroin.
Jason Pennington was charged with:
- TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN), and
- DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESSION.
Both Kyle Deshawn-Dariuss Taylor and Jason T. Pennington were transported to and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, KY. Kyle Taylor remains in custody, while Jason Pennington has since been released from the jail after he posted his bond.
Besides the work of deputies William Tyler Lafferty and Lauren O’Bryan, and trooper Ryan Hale, also assisting on the drug investigation scene were Sheriff John Kirk and deputy Jimmy Robinson.
Well at least the drug business is getting more diverse around here.
