LOUISA, Ky. — Rotary met on Thursday, April 12th for its regular weekly meeting. After the prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and reciting of the Four Way Test, Chris Jobe welcomed visitor James Stephens, Field Rep. for US Senator Rand Paul.
The meeting began with Jobe announcing the speaker for the week, Tony Dellow speaking on behalf of Taylrd (Transition Age Youth Launching Realized Dreams).
Taylrd is also known as a drop-in center for youth and young adults. Taylrd is for anyone ages 16-25 years of age and are at risk of developing a behavioral health challenge.
Dellow explained, “ transitioning into adulthood is much different now than it was when I was young, so we try to provide assistance in that area.”
Dellow said his company has 18 locations in Kentucky and the program has been successful.
Transition Age Youth Launching Realized Dreams is a federally Funded initiative aimed to positively impact the lives of Kentucky’s 16 to 25-year-olds who have or are at risk of developing behavioral health issues.
The center has a pool table, video games, a computer lab, CONNECTIONS TO RESOURCES and more. Their main goals are:
• An enhanced infrastructure of sustainable supports and services for transition age youth.
• More public awareness of signs and symptoms for serious behavioral health challenges facing young people and the developmentally appropriate response to those challenges.
• Increased outreach and engagement to youth, young adults and their families by service providing agencies.
• Improved access to service for young adults to meet cultural and linguistic needs.
• A continuous quality improvement system which includes data collection and improve the service that Kentucky’s young people receive.
The center in Louisa is set to be up and ready by August when kids are back in schools and will be located at the Pathways building.

After the speaker, Sherry Compton presented a check to Rotary President Chris Jobe for $500 from the owner of Savage Farms, Rotarian Keith Moore. The funds are the result of last week’s pancake breakfast. President Jobe stated that he would like for the club to use that $500. for their first Vocational School Scholarship. The club all agreed that it would go for that cause and was happy to announce that it would be their first Vocational Scholarship ever.
