LOUISA, KY. — The Louisa City Council met in special session Tuesday October 17th at 6pm with mayor Harold Slone presiding and all council present with the exception of Joey McClanahan who had prior commitments.

The mayor asked council to approve resolution 2023-8 agreeing to submit a grant application to Office of Homeland Security on behalf of utilities department. The grant would be to improve the cyber safety of telemetry systems between the water tanks and the plant. All were in favor.

The $139,500 street sweeper was purchased with ARPA funds by the city of Louisa at last night’s special meeting.

Council then voted to purchase a new machine for the city. The $139,500 machine has multi use capabilities of sweeping the streets, cleaning curbs and drains, pressure washing , and snow removal on smaller streets where larger trucks can’t plow.

A motion was made by Rose Lester and second by Caleb Farley to purchase the machine with ARPA funds the city had on hand. All members voted in favor.  The machine is on state contact which means it does not have to be bid.

Meeting was adjourned.
