Sheriff says ‘dispute over a pressure washer’ may be motive

PRICHARD, W.VA. — On April 11, 2018 an arrest was made in the murder of Kenneth Edward Davis, 53, which occurred February 16, 2018 in at Davis’ home on Ferry St. in Prichard, WV.

Wayne Co Sheriff Dept, with the assistance of WV State Police, Wayne Co DEU and US Marshal arrested Patrick Nelson Cyrus, 72, for the murder.

The investigation of the murder that occurred at the home of Mr. Davis has been extensive and ongoing.

Mr. Cyrus was a neighbor to the victim and they had some problems in the past. It appears there had been a dispute over a pressure washer that lead to Patrick Cyrus and his son (Kevin Cyrus) to go to victim’s house to scare him. Once they forced entry into Davis’ residence Patrick Cyrus attacked Davis with a lead filled object. Once that happened Mr. Cyrus and his son fled the residence. The weapon has not been recovered.

West Virginia State Police, the Wayne County Drug Enforcement Unit and the U.S. Marshal Service are all involved in the investigation, which is ongoing. More charges are expected later.

No bail amount is posted at this time.
