Mountain Heritage Days has been ongoing for 40 years or more

It was a beautiful day for the Mountain Heritage Days in Fort Gay, WV. On  Saturday September 3, 2016 they turned out in droves for the event which has has taken place for more than 40 years and continues to grow exponentially each year.

A small grant is given to the town for the Heritage Days along with several businesses who donate funds sponsor it. Some of the sponsors are Three Rivers Medical Center, Dr Marc Workman, Paddle Creek Marathon and Ronnie’s Hairstyling.

There are arts and crafts, food and raffles lined along the yard out front of the old Fort Gay High School.

Local talent is highlighted on the big stage while vendors serve the many visitors to the diverse booths.  This is also Fort Gay High School Alumni and the Democratic Womens Club Alumni weekend. Each celebrating with a dinner on each of the week-end nights.

“It’s a great way for the community to come together. We try to use local talent like Rachael Messer. We find that is what the community wants,” stated Janet Wellman, treasurer.
