METH, HEROIN ABUSE NOW TRENDING IN LAWRENCE COUNTY

LOUISA, Ky. — Methamphetamine abuse continues to plague Lawrence County which is apparent in the latest Felony Docket. Plus, local officials are now seeing more and more people charged with Heroin possession and sale.

Probation is now trending as our judicial system is beginning to evolve and recognize that jail may not be the answer. Sentences are switching from jail beds to rehabilitation beds.

Here is the latest docket from Lawrence Circuit Clerk Jodi Webb Parsley:

 

Randall L. BowenRandall Bowen, 24 was present on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance/opiate, 1st offense. Trial date set for 2-20-18.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Roger Barnes, Jr., 32 was arraigned on charges of 3 Counts of COMPLICITY TO RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY UNDER $10,000, COMPLICITY POSITION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST degree AND COMPLICITY TO POSSESS A DRUG PARAPHERNALIA. The defendant remains on bond, and a public defender was appointed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tyler L. BranhamTyler Branham, 34 was on the docket for FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, 1ST degree (ON FOOT), PERSISTENT FELONY OFFENDER, 1ST DEGREE, COMPLICITY POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE FIRST OFFENSE, (METHAMPHETAMINE), FAILURE OF OWNER TO MAINTAIN REQUIRED INSURANCE/SECURITY, FIRST OFFENSE, NO OPERATORS LICENSE, NO/EXPIRED KENTUCKY REGISTRATION RECEIPT, FAILURE TO WEAR SEATBELTS AND POSSESSION OF AN OPEN ALCOHOL BEVERAGE CONTAINER IN A MOTOR VEHICLE.

The defendant is in Warren County Jail and the case was reset.

 

 

 

 

 

Gary BrewerGary D. Brewer, 68 was arraigned on the charges of THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING $10,000 OR MORE, AND PERSISTENT FELONY OFFENDER, 1ST DEGREE. The defendant will remain incarcerated on the same bond and pretrial will be held on 11-22-17.

 

 

 

 

 

 

James Stephen BurchetteJames Burchett, 38 was sentenced to 3 years of Supervised Probation over 5 years, with a Pretrial Diversion and 90 days of Home Incarceration for COMPLICITY TO RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY UNDER $10,000. Concurrent to another case.

James Burchette, 38 was sentenced to 5 years on both Counts of 2 counts of RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY UNDER $10,000, and received 5 years of supervised probation with a pretrial diversion in over five years and 90 days of home incarceration, consecutive with other case.

 

 

 

 

 

Tyler BurchettTyler Burchett, 23 was arraigned on the following charges, TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE, COMPLICITY UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF METH PRECURSOR, FIRST OFFENSE, COMPLICITY POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE SECOND OR GREATER OFFENSE, COMPLICITY TO POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, AND COMPLICITY POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA. Pre-trial to be held on 11-22-17.

Tyler Burchett, 23 was arraigned on 1ST DEGREE POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – OPIATE, FIRST OFFENSE. Pre-trial will be held on 11-22-17.

 

 

 

 

 

Clarence ChildersClarence Childers, 46 was arraigned on charges of FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, FIRST DEGREE, WANTON ENDANGERMENT, 1ST DEGREE ON A POLICE OFFICER, OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL/DRUG WITH AGGRAVATING CIRCUMSTANCES, DRIVING ON SUSPENDED LICENSE, FIRST OFFENSE, AND FAILURE OF NON-OWNER OPERATOR TO MAINTAIN REQUIRED INSURANCE, FIRST OFFENSE. Pre-trial to be held on 11-22-17, and A public defender was appointed for bond in home incarceration evaluation.

 

 

 

 

 

Sherry CookSherry Cook, 46 was on the docket for eligibility of completion of a diversion. The motion was denied, the defendant was not eligible.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Marissa D. DossMarissa Doss, 26 was on the docket for 1st DEGREE POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, COCAINE, FIRST OFFENSE, DRUG PARAPHERNALIA POSSESSION, AND POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA. The defendant was not present and a bench warrant will stay in effect for failure to appear.

Jeremy FleshmanJeremy Fleshman, 37 was on the docket for a FELONY REVOCATION HEARING. The defendant was not present and a bench warrant to be issued.

William J. McCoyWilliam McCoy, 45 Pled guilty to COMPLICITY TO BURGLARY, 3RD DEGREE and received 4 years, pled guilty to COMPLICITY THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING $500 OR MORE and received 5 years. The Probation will be supervised for 1 year and 4 years unsupervised. Final sentencing to be held on 11-22-17.

 Jasmine MullinsJasmine Mullins, 51 Pled guilty and was sentenced this date to an amended charge of complicity possession of a controlled substance, 1st DEGREE. The defendant was sentenced to 60 days, time served and property returned to defendant.
