A Martin County man, who has had numerous run-ins with local county and state police finds himself in trouble again after he was arrested and charged with fighting with his father, and attempting to do so with responding officers.

According to a press release of the arrest report, Martin County Sheriff John Kirk and Chief Deputy Aaron Blevins responded to a 911 call complaint on early Tuesday evening, July 24, at a home at Little Peter Cave Road near Inez.

When Sheriff Kirk and deputy Blevins arrived at the residence, they found 33-year-old Dennis A. Maynard, of Lovely, in the yard. According to the arrest citation,

Dennis Maynard’s mother told authorities that Maynard and his father had been fighting. Maynard’s father said his son had hit him in the head. Deputy Blevins stated in the citation that Dennis A. Maynard was too impaired to perform a field sobriety test and placed Maynard under arrest. Maynard then began to scuffle with Sheriff Kirk and deputy Blevins but was finally subdued and handcuffed.

Dennis Maynard was charged with:

• ASSAULT, 4TH DEGREE (DOMESTIC VIOLENCE) MINOR INJURY,

• RESISTING ARREST, • MENACING,

• PUBLIC INTOXICATION-CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (EXCLUDES ALCOHOL). and was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where he currently remains..

Dennis A. Maynard’s latest troubles marks his 23rd arrest in the past 11 years, on a total 40 criminal offenses, many involving intoxication and their related offenses.  22 of the 23 arrests were all in Martin County, with the lone exception being arrested in Louisa this past January on an Alcohol Intoxication In A Public Place for 3rd or > Offense In 12 months.

Floyd E. Maynard, 44, of Lovely, Kentucky; was arrested on July 23, 2019, at 4:18 P.M., by deputy Aaron Blevins of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:

• SEXUAL ABUSE, 1ST DEGREE. 

Anthony R. Marcum, 37, of Louisa,Kentucky; was arrested on July 25,2019,at 12:57 P.M., by deputy Dennis McCoy of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:

• SERVING TWO BENCH WARRANTS FOR COURT

Casey J. Spence, 21, of Tomahawk,Kentucky; was arrested on July 25, 2019,at 4:32 P.M., by a deputy of the Johnson County Sheriff Department, and was charged with: CHARGES UNKNOWN.

Eric David Smith, 44, of Inez, Kentucky; was arrested on July 29,2019, at 4:23 P.M., by Sheriff John H. Kirk of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:

• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS.

Billy Joe Maynard, 45, of Inez, Kentucky; was arrested on July 29, 2019, at 4:30 P.M., by Sheriff John H. Kirk of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:

• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE (METHAMPHETAMINE),

• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS.

Paul D. Smith, 36, of Inez, Kentucky; was arrested on July 29, 2019, at 4:36 P.M., by Sheriff John H. Kirk of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:

• PUBLIC INTOXICATION-CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (EXCLUDES ALCOHOL)
