HERE ARE THE NAMES & CHARGES OF THE LATEST NINE PEOPLE ARRESTED AND WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN MARTIN COUNTY OR ANY MARTIN COUNTY CITIZENS ARRESTED BY A POLICE AGENCY IN NEIGHBORING JURISDICTIONS:
Floyd A. Luster III, 27, of Warfield, Kentucky; was arrested on April 29, 2020, at 6:30 P.M., by deputy William Tyler Lafferty, of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
• CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 2ND DEGREE,
• WANTON ENDANGERMENT-1ST DEGREE.
Angelo Jordan, 27, of Columbus, Ohio; was arrested on April 30, 2020, at 1:30 P.M., by Sheriff John H. Kirk, of the Martin County Sheriff Department, & was charged with:
• OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER/INFLUENCE ALCOHOL/DRUGS/ETC. .08 – 1ST OFFENSE,
• POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA.
According to the arrest report citation, while on patrol in the Tomahawk area, unit 1, Sheriff John H. Kirk, got behind a vehicle and smelled a faint smell of marijuana from the vehicle.
Sheriff Kirk conducted a traffic stop, whereupon talking to the driver, identified as Angelo Jordan, and that the subject stated that he had lit up a joint. Sheriff Kirk reported one joint was found, along with one bud of marijuana.
The subject, Angelo Jordan, was taken into custody, and he was transported to the Martin County Community Health Center, where implied consent was read and blood was given.
The subject, Angelo Jordan, was then transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
Ethan J. Brown, 22, of Louisa, Kentucky; was arrested on May 2, 2020, by Sheriff John H. Kirk, of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
• OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER/ INFLUENCE ALCOHOL/DRUGS/ETC. .08 – 1ST OFFENSE.
According to the arrest report citation, while on patrol in the Warfield area, Sheriff John H. Kirk observed the passenger in a vehicle throwing out litter from the vehicle window.
According to Sheriff Kirk in the arrest report, upon approaching the driver’s side of the vehicle, Sheriff Kirk smelled a strong odor of alcohol, and that the subject, identified as Ethan J. Brown, who admitted that he had drank four beers.
Sheriff Kirk stated in the report that the subject, Ethan Brown, blew a .143 on the breathalyzer.
In further statements in the arrest report,Sheriff Kirk reported that the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville refused to accept the subject, Ethan Brown, and he was brought back to Martin County and was given a citation and released per the Kentucky State Supreme Court. Blood results are pending in the case.
Kody Harless, 21, of Tomahawk, Kentucky; was arrested on May 3, 2020, at 12:06 A.M., by deputy Michael Housinger, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, & was charged with:
• PUBLIC INTOXICATION-CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (EXCLUDES ALCOHOL),
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUB 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE (METHAMPHETAMINE),
• TRAFFICKING CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WITHIN 1,000 FEET OF SCHOOL,
• SELL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE TO A MINOR, 1ST OFFENSE.
Tommy Jude, 56, of Lowmansville, Kentucky; was served an indictment and was extradited from the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, West Virginia in Cabell County, after originally arrested in Kenova, West Virginia, in Wayne County; & was transported to and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, Kentucky, in Johnson County; on May 4, 2020, at 1:09 P.M., by Sheriff John H. Kirk, of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
• TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (<10 D.U. DRUG UNSPECIFIED SCHEDULE 1 & 2).
Edd Pack III, 27, of Inez,Kentucky; was arrested on May 4,2020, at 5:48 P.M.,by deputy William Tyler Lafferty, of the Martin County Sheriff Department, & was charged with:
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE (METHAMPHETAMINE),
• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/ POSSESS,
• SERVING PAROLE VIOLATION WARRANT.
According to the arrest report citation, while on a traffic stop on Route 645 with Sheriff John H. Kirk, and deputy William Tyler Lafferty observed Edd Pack sitting in the back seat of a vehicle on the passenger’s side.
After getting the consent to search the vehicle, according to the arrest report, deputies found one black container with several small bags containing what appeared to have a crystal like substance inside each of the small bags, where Edd Pack was sitting.
The arrest report further stated that Edd Pack had one used syringe down the front of his underwear.
Edd Pack was arrested and transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
Christopher Lee Maynard, 37, of Lovely, Kentucky; was arrested on May 4, 2020, at 7:39 P.M., by deputy William Tyler Lafferty, of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
• CRIMINAL TRESPASSING-2ND DEGREE,
• DISORDERLY CONDUCT, 2ND DEGREE,
• CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 3RD DEGREE,
• ALCOHOL INTOXICATION IN A PUBLIC PLACE (1ST & 2ND OFFENSE),
• TERRORISTIC THREATENING, 3RD DEGREE
According to the arrest report citation, deputy William Tyler Lafferty received a call on Monday May 4, about a physical altercation involving a baseball bat at a residence on Little Peter Cave in Lovely.
When deputy Lafferty arrived on the scene, Christopher Maynard had already left after causing the altercation. The calling party at the residence told deputy Lafferty that tried to hit him with some type of metal pipe while trying to get inside his house, and Christopher Maynard had thrown some things that were setting on his (the complaint caller) porch into the his yard and broke them while saying he was going to burn down his house.
The sheriff’s arrest report states that Christopher Maynard had been advised several times that he was not welcome on the complainer’s property.
After Christopher Maynard was not able to be located by deputy Lafferty, he then left the scene.
According further on in the arrest report when deputy Lafferty made it to the mouth of the holler, he received another call that Christopher Maynard was back on the complainer’s property trying to fight again.
Deputy Lafferty stated in the report that he returned to the scene and found Christopher Maynard at
his residence next door. Deputy Lafferty reported the calling party told him that Christopher Maynard had tried to come back into his residence and that he had ran Maynard off with a baseball bat.
“Maynard was extremely intoxicated and would not stop yelling and cussing at the calling party even after I gave him several commands to stop,” deputy Lafferty stated in the arrest report.
Christopher Maynard was taken into custody by deputy Lafferty.
“When I was leaving the scene [Maynard] yelled at the calling party that he was going to beat his ass when he got out jail,” deputy Lafferty ended his last statement in the arrest report citation.
Christopher Lee Maynard was transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
Tommy D. Evans, 42, of Inez, Kentucky; was arrested on May 5, 2020, at 1:01 P.M.,by deputy William Tyler Lafferty, of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
• OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER/INFLUENCE ALCOHOL/DRUGS/ETC. .08 4TH OR > OFFENSE,
• PERSISTENT FELONY OFFENDER I,
• DRIVING DUI SUSPENDED LICENSE – 1ST OFF (AGGRAVATING CIRCUMSTANCES).
Logan Andrew Allen, 25, of Inez, Kentucky; was arrested on May 8, 2020, at 2:08 A.M., by deputy David Adams, of the Martin County Sheriff Department,&was charged with:
• ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES VIOLATIONS,
• FAILURE OF OWNER TO MAINTAIN REQUIRED INS/SEC, 1ST OFFENSE
• OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER/INFLUENCE ALCOHOL/DRUGS/ETC. .08 4TH OR > OFFENSE,
• DRIVING DUI SUSPENDED LICENSE – 2ND OFFENSE,
• FAILURE TO SURRENDER REVOKED OPERATORS LICENSE.
