Elaine Desario, Rotary President had several announcements this week

On Thursday February 27, 2020, the Louisa Rotary Club #3773 held their weekly meeting at the First Baptist Church in Louisa, KY. The meeting was called to order by rotary President Elaine DeSario.  Prayer was led by Pastor Dan Smith, the “Pledge of Allegiance” was led by Rotary VP Mike Shapaka, followed by The Four Way Test led by Sheila Kensinger.  Pastor Dan led in the singing of “This Land Is Your Land”, sang by Rotary members.

President Elaine Desario then led the members in singing “Happy Birthday to two Rotary members, Ellen and Greg who had a birthday this month. Elaine then showed members a thank- you card from the middle school cheerleader for sponsoring them on a trip they had taken to a competition in Florida.

She then said if any rotarian member has someone graduating this year to let them know.

Jeremy Pruitt

Rotary member Josh Pruitt’s Walmart #4461 has been awarded with Super Center of the year. A big congratulations was given to him by Desario on behalf of the club.

The Rotary members congratulated the  Louisa boys and girls basketball teams for moving on into the Regionals. The girls will be playing tonight in Prestonsburg, KY and boys tomorrow night in Prestonsburg, KY.

Member Chris Jobe is working on getting projects together for the LCHS carpentry class to work on, this is still in the works as of now. He is always excited to see our youth getting involved and helping out the community!

Member Harold Slone stated that Gordmans Store will be having a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 3, 2020. He is pleased to see new business coming to our community.

Caleb Perry

Member and speaker at the meeting was Rotarian Caleb Perry ( Perry Chiropractic). He presented a lesson on “Verbal Judo”- The general art of persuasion. Verbal Judo is a great way to break up a fight! The main thing to remember is to always have “Empathy” for others. The lesson taught, *Learn what never to say and communicate. * Engage people through Empathy. * To Listen better and always be heard. *Stop verbal attacks in their tracks.*People feel the need to always be respected, so it’s better to ask someone to do something than to be told to do it. This was a very interesting presentation.

Before the meeting was adjourned, Desario stated that their board meeting would be the first Wednesday of the month.
