Superintendent Danny Adkins announces that Dr. Jeff M. Shannon was inducted into the University of Pikeville Distinguished Educators Hall of Fame on October, 18th in the Booth Auditorium in the Record Memorial Building located on the UPIKE campus.
Adkins comments, “We appreciate UPIKE honoring some of the dedicated educators in our region and we are grateful to Jeff for dedication to the students of Floyd County. He has been in the spotlight before as Jeff has coached the team from PHS that has won the Congressional App Challenge for three consecutive years.”
Dr. Jeff Shannon currently teaches classes in Information Technology at Prestonsburg High School and teaches graduate classes for the University of Louisiana. Dr. Shannon also teaches adult continuing education courses to renew electrical contractor and HVAC licenses for the KY Dept. of Building and Housing and serves on the Kentucky State Personnel Board for Technical Education. He is in his eighteenth year as an educator.
Jeff and his wife Michelle live in the Louisa area with their daughter Rileigh and their son Lincoln.
Dr. Shannon comments, “It’s truly an honor to be inducted into the University of Pikeville’s Distinguished Educator Hall of Fame. I see this accomplishment as only being possible due to blessings from God, the support of my wife and kids and the wealth of career advice over the years from my principal Lenville Martin.”
Adkins concluded, “We appreciate the University of Pikeville showing appreciation for the outstanding teachers in Eastern Kentucky. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Shannon.”
Dr. Shannon will also be recognized during the Floyd County Schools monthly board meeting on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Floyd Central High School.
