One of Lawrence County’s brightest stars is about to be a Super Bowl Champion as tight ends coach for the favored Philadelphia Eagles in the Feb. 10 57th ANNUAL SUPER BOWL! Jason Michael, quarterback for the Bulldogs in the late 1990’s led them to a district championship and showdown in Regional finals during high school and then led Western Kentucky to a Division 1-AA  National Championship during his college career in 2002. He was also an academic All-American.

Michael has never forgotten his Louisa roots as the son of retired Lawrence Co. Schools Supt. Eddie Michael and long time Beiting Center director Sue Michael. He keeps up with local activities and returns to the area when he can. He is married and has two young children, a son and a daughter.

Glendale, Arizona — Former Lawrence Co. Star athlete and Philadelphia Eagles TE Coach Jason Micheal will be coaching in Super Bowl LVII on Sunday February 12th.

Micheal’s Eagles, the #1 seed in the NFC playoffs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 38-7 in the NFC Championship game on Sunday at home to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl. They will face the Kansas City Chiefs who won the AFC championship by defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20.

Michael is in the 20th season of his coaching career, including his second as the Philadelphia Eagles’ tight ends coach.

In his first year with the Eagles, Michael facilitated a breakout campaign by Dallas Goedert, who totaled the fifth-most receiving yards (career-high 830) among NFL tight ends. Goedert also led all tight ends in receiving first down percentage (75.0 pct.) and ranked second in yards per reception (career-high 14.8). In addition, Michael developed Jack Stoll, who was the only undrafted rookie to make Philadelphia’s roster out of training camp and was instrumental in Tyree Jackson’s transition from quarterback to tight end.

During the 2019-20 seasons, Michael served as the Indianapolis Colts’ tight ends coach, working under Eagles head coach and former Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni.

Micheal is married to his wife, Jamie. They have a son named Wyatt and a daughter named Charlie.

Go Eagles! Hurts is on his way to becoming a GOAT! He’s just a great guy in so many ways. Pretty cool that Jason is part of this team.
