Those in attendance were Mayor Harold Slone, Mitch Castle Council, Sam Lester Board Member, Heath Preston Board Member, Jeff Kinser Board Member, Eldred Adams, City Attorney, and David McGuire Public Works Director.  After the pledge and opening prayer the meeting was called to order.

The following motions were made with seconds and approved by the committee.

* Motion made by Sam Lester, second by Heath Preston to approve the minutes from the November 15 2016 meeting

The bulk of the meeting showcased two Engineering firms each vying for the city contract to initiate the proposed Sanitation Sewer Rehabilitation Project.

Summit Engineering presented a visual display of their plans and understanding of the project at hand.  They are located in Pikevillle, Ky.  The other firm was P and A Engineering from Louisa, KY. The plans were reviewed at length and affirmed by the Board that both firms were capable, had the expertise and knowledge required for the project.

After a lengthy discussion and review of both companies it was then voted unanimously to accept P and A Engineering, owned by Bob Martin of Lawrence County, as the company the board recommends. P and A Engineering owners were not immediately available.

Board member Jeff Kinser said, “I take a lot of faith in the fact that if there was a problem then someone locally could respond.”

The firm was knowledgeable and confirmed its vision of the project to assure Board Members that they understood the scope of the project as well.

Motion made by Mitch Castle and second by Jeff Kinser for adjournment.
