Sherry Burchett could not decide if she wanted to work on genealogy or open a shop for Quilters after she retired from the LC Sherriff’s Office.

Mrs. Burchett opened a shop called Quilters Playhouse and has been teaching quilting for almost a year, but some days she works on genealogy. (Chuckles) She stated that her shop is beside her house in Ulysses and that the location is prime.  There are quilters from Lawrence, Martin and Johnson County that visit her classes. The first class you attend is Free and each visit after that is $10.00 per visit.

Sherry also said that both women and men are good at making quilts and they have fun, laugh and enjoy quilting. The Beginner’s class is held on Tuesday’s at 11AM, and if more people call her to sign up, she may start an evening class.

You can reach Sherry Burchett at (606)624-5267 her shop is called Quilters Playhouse and she’s on Facebook. Mrs. Burchett has a fun time with everyone she meets and said that quilting was a dying art. Mrs. Burchett had some members of her class bring quilts to display to the Rotary members.

Pat Hart ended the meeting by asking for any comments that pertain to the good of Rotary.

Dr. Robbie Fletcher reminded everyone of the LCHS Boy’s and Girl’s Basketball Tournament next week. Then Pat Hart let everyone know Greg Kiser was not in attendance because his grandson was in surgery, so please keep Greg and his family in your prayers. He also stated that a fundraiser for Louisa Rotary was selling tickets to Steel Magnolias, tickets are $55 per couple and $30 for single. Just see a Rotary member for tickets then next week is International Rotary week.

Rotary meeting was adjourned.

This week’s comment:

Comment from guest speaker Sherry Burchett:

“…I once bought a quilt top from the Amish,” she said. “You know the Amish make at least one mistake on each piece because only one person is perfect.” (Thank You God)
