Today’s Rotary meeting was different than most. The Rotarians sponsored a dinner for the High School Senior National Honor Society, as they do every year. They had two speakers after the dinner, Rodney Ward a Pharmacist and Jill York, State Representative and also a Rotarian.

Mr. Ward gave a touching speech asking the question, “Can someone from a small town make it in this world?” The answer he said, “is YES!

Rodney Ward“We small town people know about hard work and perseverance,” Ward said.

He also talked about how it takes teamwork. Making a joke that his wife had taught him, “Behind every successful man, is a great women rolling her eyes.” As the crowd laughed, he finished his speech by explaining the importance of good decision making from now, to college, and all of the way to their first job.

Representative Jill York spoke about how proud she was of the students, and how graduation is the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, and that the students needed to keep the chapters coming.

Overall it was a very nice meeting, and Rotarians were encouraged to stay after the meeting to talk about plans for the upcoming rotary auction.
